Wonders Above,
Crudeness Below
(2022)
I glimpsed the dawn without ever feeling its warmth,
a stone adrift in the river of time, my days unnoticed and fleeting.
The splendor of the sky offered me nothing but cold indifference,
while the world's abyss clawed at my gaze, drawing me into its horror.
Even the sky’s hues, once vibrant, twisted into tortured,
pale shades, their beauty a distant echo of suffering.
I yearn now only to hold onto this forgotten dawn,
buried deep in my mind, like a tarnished coin lost in the sands of oblivion.
In this realm where the dawn lies forsaken, I shun the twilight.
For its deceptive brilliance, unlike the promise of morning,
conceals the lurking demons of the night.
Those who wander in drunken stupor, their wings clipped by darkness,
follow the rhythm of their bottles like the hands of a cursed clock, ticking away their existence.
And those who prowl the streets, wailing their miseries to any
who will hear, strike like venomous vipers, desperate for prey.
Their venom is malice, their poison deception, laced with
tears that fall like sirens’ songs, beware their allure, for one
listen and you are already damned.
Their contagion spreads faster than sound, multiplying in
the shadows, ever more numerous, ever more deadly.
To join them would be a slow descent into madness, a twisted death
embraced by the stench of alcohol and the heavy weight of numbing intoxication.
But I choose to live for the fleeting moments of dawn, to drink
from the celestial canvas above, to be nourished by its light its hope,
joy, and love before the world below swallows me whole.
